Bangalore. The metropolitan pride of India. The IT capital. The city has many wonders but it also carries a significant burden of mental health issues. In Karnataka, as a whole, more than a million people sought mental health care assistance between 2018-19. This was just in the public health institutions. Out of these 34% were people facing depression or anxiety disorders. Depression in Bangalore poses a significant threat to the population of the city. The statistics point towards a severe crunch in healthcare facilities for the people of the state. The symptoms of depression are usually not very distinguishable sometimes. This implies that many people with depression rarely know when or how to seek help.
