Set up in 1992, at 7th Mile, Kanakapura Road, with just one schizophrenic resident as it's first member today with more than 150 residents, with a capacity for 200 residents, it happens to be one of largest in it's genre in the Voluntary Sector.
Cadabam'S, deriving its name from the family which had seen and experienced what it is to be to have a mentally disabled person in the family was set up by a scion of Cadabam'S family Mr.C.M.Ramesh and his wife Mrs.Sudha.R. Cadabam in memory of late Amitha M.Cadabam, Daughter of Smt.Lakshmikantamma & Sri.Mannarkrishna Setty, mentally retarded sister of Mr.Ramesh who died at the young age of 23.
The first home was set up in a rented premises by a trust formed by the Cadabam'S family, close to city at about 3 Kms from the famous Sri.Banashankari Temple on Kanakapura Main Road, Reputation built up by the dedication of it's founders and equally dedicated staff brought families from all over the country to leave their unfortunate wards under Cadabam'S care. By 1997 when the strength was nearing 60, the home was shifted to its new premises about 18 kms, down south from the old campus on Kanakapura road, near Kaggalipura in Gulakamle village. The new campus set in rural ambience, spread over 14 acres with plenty of open space and greenery around, beautifully designed buildings for comfortable living of Residents, and gives a veritable look of a Holiday Resort. |
